For anyone interested in Great Blue Herons, here is an update from
Seattle Audubon Urban Habitat Director, Matt Mega:

A new GBH colony appears to be starting near Matthew's Beach. Currently,
there are 2 occupied nests in the Thornton Creek Natural Area and at
least 3 additional GBH hanging out in a Black Cottonwood. The tree is
located in very close proximity to Sand Point Way and NE 95th. Both
nests were present last year, but the there seems to be additional
activity this year. No official monitoring has (or is) occurring to the
best of my knowledge. Might they be displaced Black River GBH, obviously
there is no way to tell.
