Catherine, regarding your query about ravens being in city of Seattle--I'm no expert on the topic, but I did just see my first raven in Seattle's city limits recently, too--I was up around 115th NW in Seattle and looked up to see an eagle soaring overhead (the friend I was visiting said it lived in Carkeek Park) and a couple of lengths behind it flew a raven hassling it. It was definitely a raven--I recognized all the distinctive traits, the bird was clearly silhouetted against the sky, and the voice was exactly that of ravens I've heard elsewhere in rural WA over the past 17 years. I was surprised and pleased to see this bird in city environs, though I doubt the harassed eagle was!
