Hello Tweeters,
Has anybody seen great gray owls near Mount Vernon recently? Three of us
ecologists have been working in the Mount Vernon area (northwest of Big
Lake) for the last few months and have had two sightings of what we believe
is a GREAT GRAY OWL. Both times, the bird was perched in deciduous forest,
adjacent to an old clear-cut area. It flew into the forest before we could
get a good look at it. It appeared to be big (red-tailed hawk size),
completely dark gray backside (we only saw its back), had a long, but
splayed tail, and had a wide body. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your help!
