raptors have been a wonderful surprise along the east lake sammamish parkway
in recent mornings... two adult eagles have staked out territory from about
weber point to marymoor park, and at least twice during the last week, a
red-tailed hawk has been present at the same time... the first time, he was
perched on a horizontal guywire as if he were using the telephone pole as
back support... this morning, he was in a more "normal" location in the
woods just south of the park along the parkway...

last sunday, i was taken to the pacific science centre for a number of
reasons, not the least of which was the stupidity of trying to photograph
anything outside (wind, rain)...

the variety inside the butterfly enclosure is nice, and some are downright
beautiful. among the photos of the month, one woman was amazing: as she's
getting ready to leave, one of the owl butterflies (sp?) landed on her chin,
then extended its proboscis into her mouth and started taking on fluids...
for about 5 minutes...

she graciously allowed it to happen, letting us (several people with cameras
in-hand) to document the event... brave woman... the docent said, while
unusual, it does happen. they apparently like the taste of human saliva...

i hope you enjoy the photos within!
