Rare Bird Alert for SAGE SPARROW at Iona Island, Richmond


Sightings for Wednesday, March 14th

At Iona Island in Richmond, a SAGE SPARROW was found at
1:30 PM today. Drive to the furthest parking lot, past the rest rooms,
and walk the gravel road towards the Fraser River. The bird was
seen in the area where the road bends to the left.

In Delta, the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD could not be relocated
on 72nd St today.

At Maplewood Conservation area in North Vancouver, a
WESTERN MEADOWLARK was present.


Sightings for Tuesday, March 13th

In Delta, the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen again in the yard
at 3760 72nd Street, just south of the Delta Community Living
Society offices.


No reports for Monday, March 12th


Sightings for Sunday, March 11th

In Delta, the GYRFALCON was present along 112th St. Also,
a GLAUCOUS GULL and at least 10 CALIFORNIA GULLS
were seen in the area.


Sightings for Saturday, March 10th:

In Delta at the foot of 72nd St, 8 SNOWY OWLS were present.
Near 88th St and Hwy 10, a EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL
and 200+ EURASIAN WIGEON were counted.


Sightings for Friday, March 9th:

At the Tsawwassen ferry jetty in Delta, the ROCK SANDPIPER
was again present at berth 6.


Sightings for Thursday, March 8th:

In South Surrey, the first RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD of spring was
seen at a feeder.


Sightings for Wednesday, March 7th:

A hybrid duck resembling a drake TUFTED DUCK has been present
at Ambleside Park pond in West Vancouver.


Sightings for Tuesday, March 6th:

An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen at the west end of River Road
in Delta, west of Ladner.


No reports for Monday, March 5th.


Sightings for Sunday, March 4th:

In Washington, the WHOOPER SWAN was present along Ulrick
Road near Ferndale Road just south of Ferndale. Also in Washington,
the BLACK-HEADED GULL was present at Point No Point, Kitsap County.

At the Tsawwassen jetty, a ROCK SANDPIPER was seen on the
north side near the parking lot before flying over to the south side.

In Delta, the GYRFALCON was again seen along 112th Street.
Two CALIFORNIA GULLS were seen west of 96th St and Burns
Drive. At the foot of 72nd St, 5 SNOWY OWLS were present along
the foreshore. A first winter GLAUCOUS GULL was seen near Deas
Island Park. Also, a high count of 33 EURASIAN WIGEON was seen
in fields north of Boundary Bay, most of these near the OWL
rehab centre on 72nd Street.
