Hi Tweeters,

Yesterday I tried to find some of the birds that Andy and Ellen
Stepniewski saw last weekend. I started at Wilson Creek and had
wonderful views of the Ferruginous Hawks. It doesn't look like they
are quite ready to nest as neither of them got anywhere near the
nest. I did get photos of one perched on a power pole and soaring overhead.

I ran into George Gertz and Jamie Acker and together we seached for
Tri-colored Blackbirds on the south side of the slough. None were to
be found. There were qutie a few blackbirds calling but they tended
to stay hidden.

At the south end of Lenore Lake I found the Lesser Black-backed Gull
keeping company with a Herring Gull. I followed them up the west
side of the lake as they paddled to keep ahead of me. I was able to
get fairly close to them several times and get some photos. When I
got back to my truck I scoped to try to see them one last time but
they had moved on. I found the Lesser Black-backed Gull again
lounging at the south end of Soap Lake in the company of California
and Ring-billed Gulls. It must be camera-shy because just as I was
putting my camera onto my scope it flew. I missed some really close
photos of it by just a minute or two.

The photos of the Ferruginous Hawks and the Lesser Black-backed Gull
are in the new photos folder on my website.
