I did a survey of birds at Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge today. There was a big group of about 1800 Dunlin moving about, but that was it for shorebirds today. From the end of the Sandpiper Trail, I scoped the abundant waterfowl with these results:

Mallard 43
Gadwall 21
Northern Pintail 215
Green-winged Teal 79
Cinnamon Teal 2 (male and female)
Canvasback 2 (male and female)
Bufflehead 6
Red-breasted Merganser 14

On the Hoquiam STP pond, Scaup dominated the waters with 370 total (counting both species together). While scoping the pond, I heard my first of the year Caspian Tern, but could not visually locate it.
