Hi Tweeters,

The small Great Blue Heron colony in Medina seems to
have survived the Bald Eagle incident from last
Friday. Last night the top nest in the cottonwood
tree looks to be on eggs, as well as three nests in
the biggest doug fir across the pond. The lower nest
in the cottonwood, the one that got molested by the
eagle has a heron standing on the nest and one nearby
so maybe they will just get a late start. The
Double-crested Cormorant that likes that same branch
was there. It was nice to see things back to
"normal".

It was really birdy there last night primarily with
commons birds, tons and tons of Robins, enough that a
little boy about 3 was busy chasing them. Quite a few
White-crowned Sparrows including some singing, my
first singing of the local variety of White-crowned
this year. One at work is on the verge of singing but
he hasn't tuned up yet, just perching high and
chipping. The wigeon flock has one Eurasian male,
maybe more, some of them split up and spend time at
the golf course. I have managed to avoid the
spectacle of duck rape until last night. One poor
male Mallard was assaulted by many others.
Fortunately he got away before they drowned him.

I almost forgot, directions can be found on the City
of Medina website.
