Hello All,
Had a nice morning at Nisqually under partly cloudy skies. It was a
remarkable day for the number of species active. I was able to find 95
species along the entire loop trail, which nearly ties my record for the
refuge. Highlights today were less impressive, but included a Harlan's Hawk,
a singing White-throated Sparrow, my first-of-season Caspian Tern, Barn,
Cliff, and Northern Rough-winged Swallows, and the Great Horned Owls in the
traditional nest site.
After walking the loop I decided to go to Mima Mounds. I was not able to
find the Mountain Bluebird. Several Turkey Vultures and Western Meadowlarks
were the main things active.
