Subject: [Tweeters] Owl Walk at Camp Long - West Seattle this Sat. Mar 31 -

I will be leading my next Owl Walk for the Seattle Parks Department at Camp
Long in West Seattle this Saturday March 31 from 7 - 9 pm. Families and
individuals welcome. We'll start with a short presentation indoors showing
our mounted owls and allowing both kids and adults to show what they know
about owls then head out on to hoot and search for the owls - evening/night
hike through the woods. I last heard a Barred Owl about a week ago, so
there is a reasonable chance of hearing or seeing one, but no guarantees,
but we're almost sure to have fun and learn stuff. (other owl species are
unlikely to be seen there now.) We always look under some logs too, so we
are almost sure to see Red-backed Salamanders and maybe an Ensatina along
with ground beetles and various other under-log organisms. We'll also look
for Pellets and I can at least guarantee a couple of bones that an owl once
hacked up. Night blooming Trilliums and magenta Salmonberry blooms are sure
to be seen also. (no, they stay open in the day too)
