Subject: [Tweeters] Western Grebe rafts at Seattle's Discovery Park,

On 28 Mar 07, a large raft of Western Grebes floated off the north side of the point at Discovery Park. My single count through binocs came up with 177, which was probably pretty accurate because water was calm, and the birds were loafing (most with heads tucked), none diving. They were too far away to check for Clark's Grebes, and with heads tucked, it wouldn't have been much use, anyway.

A raft of similar size existed south of the point. I made no count.
