Couldn't stick around yesterday morning, but had a couple minutes this morn
to enjoy migrants passing through the place here in n. Lake Stevens, both
mornings there have been numerous arrivals. At least at our place,
migration had heretofore been running really late--we had our first
PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER only April 27, and although other observers had
them earlier in the region, I don't know that I saw an entry before the
20th. The highlight this morn, among a horde of YELLOW-RUMPS and a few
other warblers, along the edge of our heavy forest, was a singing NASHVILLE
WARBLER, only our 2nd record since 1995. I also had a flyover GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, which has only happened a few times previously, the others in
April or Sept. Other migrants in the last few days include HAMMOND'S
FLYCATCHER (also late this year, 29th FOS), HERMIT THRUSH, RUBY-CROWNED
KINGLET, CASSIN'S VIREO (this morn), BL-THR GRAY & ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS,
and LINCOLN'S SPARROW (April 29, rare here). BARN SWALLOWS were also late
to arrive on territories in Marysville it seemed, the first I had being
April 23 at Cedar Field.
