Finally, spring has sprung! Although most of the waterfowl have departed,
the last two days the park has been alive with migrants and returning
nesters. Some of the least frequently seen: CASSIN'S VIREO and NASHVILLE
WARBLER. Others that have returned: WESTERN TANAGER, WILSON'S WARBLER,
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, and PURPLE MARTIN. There have
been "gobs" of Yellow-rumped Warblers (both Audubon's and Myrtle's) and
Orange-crowned Warblers, and a few BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS.
PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER has been present, and Ryan Merrill has seen a
couple of HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS. I can't wait to see what tomorrow will
bring.
