Tuesday afternoon Barbara and I stopped at the now almost dry S 204th St ponds. Some shorebirds scattered as another car drove by before we could get the scope on them. But we did find a Western Kingbird sitting on a fencepost at the roadside. We then drove to the big pond on S 212th St. Traffic is heavy here, but work was going on at the other end of the site, so we could pull into the new intersection that was gated off about fifty feet in, and scoped the pond despite the traffic. We didn't find the Black-necked Stilt, but there were 20 Least and 20 Western Sandpipers, a dishevelled Greater Yellowlegs, and a single Long-billed Dowitcher, and a bunch of Mallards, Shovelers, and Green-winged Teal The air over the pond was alive with Barn Swallows.
