Thanks Matt,

I got each of the birds you mentioned, as well as 3 American Pipits on Shovelers Pond. There were also 2 pair of Cinnamon Teal in the wetland area by the E-5 parking lot.

Besides that, my most interesting observation was 1 American Wigeon. That is not a typo. One lone male hiding under a tree on the Central Pond, no others to be found in two loops. After the hundreds of wigeon the past couple of months, this was certainly of note.

Finally, I went over by the Union Bay Marsh, east of the Center for Urban Horticulture. For the 2nd time in 2 weeks, I heard a California Quail. This time, I made sure to see it. It was standing on one leg in a tree at the corner of NE 41st & Surber Drive. Niceto see this bird still hanging on in the city.

Hello Tweeters,

I did a quick loop through the Montlake Fill this evening. There was one Solitary Sandpiper feeding in the wooded pond in the southeast corner. On the main pond were two Least Sandpipers and one Spotted Sandpiper. Otherwise it was pretty quiet; many of the ducks that were present just a week ago seem to have cleared out (or were elsewhere for the evening).

Good birding,
