This afternoon Nick Bonomo and I made a quick stop at Juanita Bay Park to
see if we could find a sapsucker. After not seeing much we were heading
back to the car when we spotted an empid. It was calling, and both of our
reactions was that of surprise since it was giving 'whit' call rather than
the call of a Hammond's Flycatcher which we've heard several times in the
past few days. The bird's gray head contrasted with it's greenish-brown
back, the breast had the typical vested look of a Hammond's/Dusky with pale
yellow lower-breast and gray upper-breast, the lower bill was mostly dark,
and the primary projection was significantly shorter than that of a
Hammond's. It was frequently twitching and flicking its tail in an upward
direction. In response to the recording for Dusky Flycatcher the bird
immediately approached us, began calling more frequently, and even did part
of its song - exactly matching that of the recording.

The Dusky was located in the eastern part of the park along the trail
accessed from NE 108th St. A Nashville Warbler was on the same trail the
past Saturday.
