Hi Tweets,
This is a very late report, but my wife and I spent last weekend at
Mariner's Cove on Whidbey Island. We spent Sunday boating around between
Whidbey and Camano. I was amazed at the number of Western Grebes, Surf
Scoters and Bonaparte's Gulls that we saw mid-sound. The best sighting of
the day was a pair of Long-tailed Ducks that flew by as we were about a half
mile north of Camano Island. I have posted the highlights of the weekend
(including a less than stellar photo of the LT Ducks) on my website:
www.goatislandimages.com <http://www.goatislandimages.com/> . The photos
can be found in the "Field Trips" section. Take a look if you feel the
urge, check them out.
Here is the list of species sighted over the weekend in the order I remember
them:
Red-tailed Hawk
Brewer's Blackbird
European Starling
Double-crested Cormorant
American Crow
Great Blue Heron
House Finch
Bald Eagle

Bonaparte's Gull
Glaucous-winged Gull

Savannah Sparrow
Yellow-rumped Warbler
California Quail
Caspian Tern
Violet-green Swallow
Barn Swallow
Steller's Jay
Sharp-shinned Hawk

I've probably forgotten a few. It was a great weekend!
