I have a bird that's visited twice. I can't find him in my "Birds of Washington" nor my "Seattle Birds" books (I hear you laughing at my resource!)... I found a copy of "Bird Songs" at costco (250 North American Birds in Song) - this is where I FINALLY found a bird resembling my new visitor! Now I have three books, and I think a positive ID! He LOOKS like a GOLD CROWNED SPARROW. I'm sure someone is rolling their eyes at the newbie! Hahhaa Here's his mugshot - I'd love some confirmation if you don't mind! http://westernimagphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/2290326#147404862

My neighbor and I are puzzled over this guy, still can't figure out who/what he is: http://westernimagphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/2290326#149597310 (I am still waiting for permission to share the Calliope hummer!)

Thank you all for your oh so kind compliments, emails, and also for your MUCH welcomed advice about the feeders and sick birds. WHile I have made sure to keep my feeders clean, I learned a lot from the responses. I can't wait to further my research into plantings for birds, and have made some changes to ensure my feeder areas are clean and healthy! I've kept a keen eye on the feeders, and everyone looks 100%.

I thought I had a "girls only" hummingbird feeder until Thursday! I FINALLY saw the male Rufous, and oh my he is handsome! http://westernimagphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/2290326#149468013

The pigeon and mourning dove have not returned, though I've heard the dove on two different mornings... There's also my Cooper's hawk (ID'd through the fine help received here!) who lives in our treetops (I hear his kikikikik call several times throughout the day) - he might be the reason the dove hasn't returned (possibly the pigeon as well?).

Thanks so much!
