On the way from Quincy Lakes I saw a pair of rufous morph Swainson's Hawks
along Frenchmen Hills Rd. Things were pretty slow along Huntzinger Rd and
old Vantage Hwy. I got to Robinson Canyon late Tuesday and stayed till early
Thursday. I chased every little tweet in the bottom of the canyon and got
more tired than anything. Them little birds are all over but they don't
pose. The most plentiful bird was the Hammond's Flycatcher, it seemed like
there was one on every other tree. Orange-crowned and Nashville warblers
were abundant but harder to see. Hermit Thrush sounded like they were under
every bush but only saw one whole one and glimpsed parts of others. I saw a
small flockof birds move through one of which at least was a Hutton's Vireo.
Every time after that I saw only Ruby-crowned Kinglets, which were
plentiful, also. I saw a Golden Eagle being chased by ravens and got a
picture when he set down briefly but it was too fuzzy to use. That's one I
really want!
So that's it until I can afford to gas up the camper. Pictures are at:
