May I suggest those of you who enjoy the Weatherwax parcel forest next to the Ocean Shores golf course to write a short note to the North Coast News editors regarding preservation of the mature woods near the golf course? Apparently developers are still looking to raze the forest, and a public outcry in support of the forest would be a good thing. I think a short note would be sufficient. You'll want to sign it with your name and your home town. Below is what I sent - note the email address you can use.

Subject: Letter to the Editor: Keep the Weatherwax property pristine

To the editor:
I would like to state my opinion that the Weatherwax property should be kept in as pristine a state as possible. The only human encroachment should be the trails through these gorgeous woods. Lately I have been bringing my Seattle friends on walks through this forest, and they "ooh" and "aah" at every turn. Every dripping fern, mature tree, native undergrowth, and bird call is a wonder to behold. This winter I saw (and photographed) a Great Horned Owl resting in a shaft of sunlight in the glade maybe 100 yards for the Ocean Lake trailhead. This forest is a treasure belonging to Ocean Shores and it should never be destroyed. Thanks.
