Pass out the birdseed cigars . . . I knew that a pair of House Finches
was nesting in our arborvitae, and the other day I heard a lot of
telltale peeping when the mother flew into the tree. I surreptitiously
looked in and was delighted to see five--count 'em--five pairs of bright
black baby birdie eyes peering back at me! The smart little things
didn't make a sound but oh, are they cute! Various Violet-Green
Swallows seem to be investigating my swallow house, too, so here's
hoping for more birdie babies soon.
