Hi Tweets -
This morning I was down in Kent and was happy to see that for the 3rd
summer running, the Kent Ponds YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT has returned. It
was chattering away from almost exactly the same spot as last year.
Best, but still distant, viewing can be had with a scope from the
south viewing tower. This is the tower accessible off the path that
runs along the south side of the Kent Ponds area. Once up in the
tower, look northeast [towards the Animal Shelter] across the first
big section of water. There are 2 bare snags out that way -- the YBCH
spent most of the hour or so I was there singing from treetops just
to the right of the rightmost snag. It was obliging enough to spend
most of its time pointed in my direction so I could find its bright
yellow undersides.

Up at the 212th ponds, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER joined the many Western &
Least Sandpipers, along with 1 Greater Yellowlegs and about 7
Long-billed Dowitchers. At Boeing Ponds, I think I had at least 4
Spotted Sandpipers -- quite a change from just a week ago when we
were happy to find one there.

Good birding,

Matt
