The lady across the street has a nice, male MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER in her
back yard near bushes at a bird bath today. That's the first one I have
seen here in Des Moines. Our habitat is mainly lowland woods, fields, and
suburbs. The warbler is acting skulky, as they usually do.
We continue to hear Purple Finches here. Yesterday there was a bright male
WESTERN TANAGER near the top of a large ash tree. It was trying to sing a
little, in that burry-sounding robin-like song. Several WILSON'S WARBLERS
are in the area, singing ch-ch-ch-ch. We are also hearing a few Or-crowned
Warblers.
No flycatchers yet.
Sheesh, I wish we could see HALF of what they are seeing at Marymoor...
