Greetings to all and happy Mother's Day!

Just saw a California Quail on my neighbor's rooftop here by Lincoln Park in West Seattle. Although the species is listed as a common lowland Puget Sound resident in my guidebooks, I've never before seen one in West Seattle in +/- 10 years of observing. Are they actually that common and I've simply missed them?

And while I'm emailing - when I lived by Green Lake, I saw goldfinches regularly. This is another species I've never seen in Lincoln Park. I do tend to hang out in the same parts of the park most of the time, so I may be just not looking in the right habitat. Has anyone seen goldfinches in this part of West Seattle, and if so, where?

Good birding,
Trileigh Tucker
