Tweets,

Paul Hicks asked me to email an update that might help pinpoint directions to the Acorn Woodpecker being seen near Oakville. This is based on his watching the bird at 4:00 p.m. today.
His directions read: Going westbound on state highway #12 to approximately milepost 36.5 (or about 1.2 miles west of Black River bridge) turn left on Blockhouse Rd. [note that there are several Blockhouse Rd. intersections along hwy. #12] Continue south about 1 mile to stop at Elma Gate Rd. E. Park before intersection on wide shoulder. View westward from a large utility box. The Acorn Woodpecker was using the top of a broken off tree trunk for storage (a granary?), which is located to the right of a faint roadway in the woods, just beyond an old woodpile. The woodpecker alternated from foraging on the ground out of sight to storing its cache in the tree (presumably acorns). It took less than 10 minutes to locate the bird.

For Paul, good birding all.
