I'm sorry to report that Eugene Kridler passed away early Monday, May 14,
2007 in Port Angeles. Gene was "Master Bander #8485," and former Director
of the U.S. FWS for Hawaii and the Western Pacific Region. He was also the
first director of the endangered species program for Hawaii and was
responsible for setting aside 10 wildlife refuges in the pacific. He
retired to Sequim and was active with the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society
through his last days.



Before his passing, Gene requested that no memorial service be held;
however, an informal celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, May
20th at 2:00 PM at the Dungeness River Audubon Center in Sequim. In lieu of
flowers or gifts, memorials could be sent to the River Center Foundation
Endowment Fund, Dungeness River Audubon Center, P.O. Box 3007, Sequim, WA,
98382.
