Sightings for Saturday, May 12th

CHIPPING SPARROWS are showing up throughout the region with one each
seen at Burnaby Mountain Park, Maplewood Conservation Area, and
Grant Narrows at Pitt Lake. 1 EVENING GROSBEAK was also at Grant
Narrows and nearby 1 WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was also along the
Nature Dike Trail.

>From Jericho Beach Park comes are report of melanistic `black' Bald
Eagle. Please contact the alert if you see this bird with a
description, it may show a little white on the axillaries (wing pits)

3 PURPLE MARTINS have returned to Iona Island


Sightings for Friday, May 11th

2 CHIPPING SPARROWS were observed at the parking lot of the Seymour
Creek Golf Centre Driving Range in North Vancouver.

33 WHIMBREL were on Farm Slough at Blackie Spit in Surrey


Sightings for Thursday, May 10th

A RUFF was observed at around 2:30 pm today at the Reifel Bird
Sanctuary. 1 WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was also present at Reifel.

YELLOW WARBLERS, WARBLING VIREOS, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, WESTERN TANAGERS,
and WESTERN WOOD-
PEWEES are now being reported from throughout the region.


Sightings for Wednesday, May 9th

A pair of SANDHILL CRANES are nesting at Greenacres Golf Course in
Richmond


Sightings for Tuesday, May 8th

The first report of a WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE was from Burnaby
Mountain Park in Burnaby.

A singing YELLOW WARBLER, the first report this spring, was at the
Maplewood Conservation Area


Sightings for Monday, May 7th

15 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS and 30 CASPIAN TERNS
were observed from the Roberts Bank jetty in Delta.

2 WESTERN KINGBIRDS were at the Maplewood Conservation Area


Sightings for Saturday, May 5th

An alternate plumage RED-THROATED LOON was observed on the
SW Pond at Iona Island in Richmond

The first spring report of a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE came from Blackie Spit
in Surrey.

A CHIPPING SPARROW was found along the CP Train tracks just west of
Old Orchard Park in Port Moody

A HOUSE WREN was observed opposite 591 Marine Dr, Point Roberts,
Washington


Sightings for Friday, May 4th

In the "polo fields" along 8th Avenue in Surrey, just east of 176th
Street, were 25 WHIMBREL seen in flight


Sightings for Thursday, May 3rd

A DUSKY FLYCATCHER was observed and heard, loosely
associating with 3 HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS at the southwest
corner of the reservoir at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver.

1 male BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK the first reported this spring was
along the 3000 block Spuraway Ave, Coquitlam
