Hello all,

Here are 4 programs I have scheduled for this weekend. All 4 of these are
through the Seattle Parks Department and pre-registration is required. Call
684-7434 (Camp Long) 10:00 am - 6:00 pm between now and preferably before
the day of the program to pre-register.


Sat, May 19th:

12:30 pm - 2:30 pm: Beach Safari at Mee Kwa Mooks (West Seattle) (-3.3! tide
at 1:22pm)- Uncover (and cover again) a diversity of hidden beach creatures
and learn their stories. Is it dead or is it shed? Use the smell test to
determine whether crab shells are from dead animals or only molts that
didn't fit the crab anymore. We'll watch for the birds too. All ages

3 - 5 pm: Trilliums and Tremendous Trees of Schmitz Pk: Join us in
Seattle's most intact grove of ancient trees towering over Trilliums (blooms
now mostly finished) and magenta Salmonberry blooms (also finished - must
have been thinking March for these blooms). The Foamflower (Tiarella
trifoliata) should now be in bloom. Learn about our old growth ecosystems
and almost anything you want to know about its plants and animals.

7:30 - 9:30 pm Seward Park Owl Hoot: The juvenile Barred Owls have left
their nests in our area and have started their hissing "feed me" calls.
Will we see any at Seward this evening? We'll learn a bit about owls and
look at our mounted specimens before going out on a hike to hoot and look
for owls.

Sun, May 20th:
