Hi all

Had a flock of 3-5 Red Crossbills stop for a bath on Butyl Creek, our backyard recirculating creek today. I scared them away before I could even count them. No red birds, all were small-sized. Also Black-headed Grosbeak, Western Tanager & Wilson?s Warbler.

Curt Pearson mentioned to me there was a very photographable alternate-plumaged Red- necked Grebe at the Boeing Ponds today.

In YardBirdRace news:

Lazuli Bunting on Marrazzo/Hofman yard in Upper Rainier Beach!

Vashon record (76) in Big Trouble as Alan Huggins is at 71 with White-throated Sparrow, 3 Vireo species and Am. Kestrel among many others.

West Seattle leads all Seattle with most YardBirdRace contenders. Flynn/Benevente out in front with 57 including Western Screech Owl.

Bill & Charlotte Byers have assured Ravenna of a YBR record.

Tubbs already in Redmond-record territory with a ?working? yard previously pioneered by Brian Pendleton in the 06 race. Tubbs is at 61 with Brewer's Sparrow (photos taken), Green Heron, Northern Shrike etc.

The Olivers in front in Redmond G with at least 39.

Sullivans at 68 in Fircrest with Swainson?s Hawk, Western Kingbird.

Hein/ Bazewick need 11 to tie in Anacortes.

Clare Crawford (25) and Jody Green (32) are both within striking distance of the Olympia record of 39.

Daniels/Steiner (46) and Pendleton (56) are both stalking the outlying Auburn record of 76. Daniels/Steiner have the YBR?s first Ringed Turtle Dove, which was killed by an accipiter.

And many other YardBirdRacers are endangering many YBR records!

All participants will win a prize! One option will be a year long sub to WASHINGTON BIRDER! Others will be announced
