Between 10:25 a.m and 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, 17 May 2007, I observed a
flock of four WHITE-FACED IBISES at the River S Unit of Ridgefield NWR in
Clark County. The flock of 4 were in the water that is north of the
observation blind parking lot and east of the road. I also saw a lone
WHITE-FACED IBIS in the water west of the observation blind trail and south
of the road. I obtained passable photos of the flock of 4 that should
suffice for documentation purposes, but they are not as good as Roger
Windemuth's photos of the one that was posted recently. I saw the lone Ibis
both before and after seeing the flock, so I'm confident the total count is
5.

Other birds of perhaps only local interest at the River S Unit were a pair
of COMMON RAVENS that eventually flew south, a lone CACKLING GOOSE along
Kiwa Trail (a bit late?), an immature Tundra PEREGRINE FALCON along Kiwa
Trail, at least 2 male BLUE-WINGED TEALS and 2 male GREEN-WINGED TEALS, and
several LESSER SCAUP, which seemed late to me, but I'm still relatively new
to this area.
