Subject: [Tweeters] Gray Catbird at Tolt-McDonald Park, Carnation

Yesterday, I was scouting out Tolt-McDonald Park, Carnation, for a
Seattle Audubon neighborhood walk. I crossed the footbridge and turned
right onto the trail running parallel to the river. Around noon, where
the trail leaves the woods and opens out into a mowed area, I heard what
sounded to me like a GRAY CATBIRD, singing from a few feet off the
ground in the thick shrubs to the left of the picnic shelter. It sang
that long, kind of conversational catbird song just once, was silent for
about half an hour, than sang one more time. I never managed to get a
look at it. I'm pretty certain it was a catbird that I heard, but if
any of you are out that way, it would be nice to have some
corroboration.

There were plenty of most of the usual birds in the park, but I didn't
see or hear a single WILLOW FLYCATCHER or RED-EYED VIREO, of which I
have found many in past years. I wonder where they are?
