Hello All,
Yesterday (19 May) morning while on the WOS "Birding the Burn" fieldtrip we
came upon a very vocal Least Flycatcher along Coppei Creek at the junction
of McCown Rd. and Coppei Creek Rd.. This is the same site that Kraig Kemper
located a Least Flycatcher last summer. This is the earlist date for this
species in WW Co.. We also located a Turkey Vulture just outside Dayton,
Columbia Co. which is a rare species in that area. Other interesting
discoveries on this WOS fieldtrip in Columbia Co. were Williamsons Sapsucker
and Black backed Woodpecker. We ended up at Hummingbird Crossing just south
of Dixie, Walla Walla Co. where we saw all three hummingbird species in big
numbers. We ended up with 90 species for the day-this was without any
wetland sites along the way.
Later Mike
