Ryan, Beth and I went took a birding and camping trip this weekend. On the
way out to Westport we stopped at Bottle Beach to see some shorebirds.
Unfortunately the tide was not right and we weren't any able to identify any
of them from that distance. We did see, however, see 4 AMERICAN WHITE
PELICAN floating together right on the shoreline. They were the only birds
that were in good viewing distance. I know there might be a few skeptics
around (already met some) but there is now way you can mistake these birds.
They were by themselves just floating around.
We also got a PARASITIC JAEGER out off the jetty in Westport, a PEREGRINE
FALCON on the jetty, RUDDY TURNSTONE, WANDERING TATTLER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER,
RINOCEROUS AUKLETS, and many other seabirds while unsuccessfully trying to
catch some dinner. We went back to Bottle Beach at a much better tide and
were pleased to see over fifty RED KNOT, at least three WHIMBREL, loads of
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, DUNLIN, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, and WESTERN SANDPIPER.
We saw many more birds this weekend, but I just got home and there is an
ice-cold beer with my name on it. I will tell more when time permits.

Take care and Good Birding to you,

Caanan
