Hello All
Today on the monthy census of the Kent Ponds, we found that there are now
TWO Yellow-breasted Chats duetting from the lagoon island. We all had very
good views through the scope of one perched below the south snag. According
to the Birds of NA account only males sing, so unless there is a female
around these bachelors are out of luck.
Other highlights at Kent Ponds included 2 Caspian Terns, 2 American
Bitterns, 1 Green Heron, 2 Cinnamon Teal, 3 migrant Western Wood-Pewees, and
at least 7 Lazuli Buntings.
Afterwards, I checked Boeing Ponds and happened across the White-faced Ibis
being scoped by Ryan Merrill. After enjoying that sight for some time, I
headed over to 204th Street which had very little mud and only pipits. Then
the construction pond south of 212th and west of Frager Road, where the 7
Red-necked Phalaropes remained.
Cheers,
Charlie Wright
