The winter wrens have fledged in the wood behind my house and their little
chippy call followed me today as I did a bit of trail work in the rain. It
seemed like whenever I looked around, I had an audience of wrens who were
curiously watching what this strange green monkey was up to. For some
reason, twice over the course of about an hour I saw a fledgling winter wren
fly up, walk around and then go inside my daypack which was laying on the
ground. As I was preparing to head home, I gave my pack a shake before
picking it up and out flew a fledgling wren, who perched nearby and gave me
a piece of his mind about my disturbing his cozy new rain shelter.
