This was about the unbirdiest trip I have had to Ocean
Shores - Bald Eagles were the highlight.

Sunday evening (beach area at Ocean City State
Park)about 6:30 p.m., besides the usual gulls and
crows, and a small flock of Sanderlings, there was one
very young Bald Eagle (I'd say first year)perched on
the trail head marker (tall white post)at the beach.

This morning around 6 a.m., same, except there were
three Bald Eagles - first year, adult, and 2nd year
(my guess, but with maybe a bit more white on the head
than Sibley showes for 2nd year). They were a treat
to watch, expecially the young one; it hung out with a
small group of gulls while the adult and older
immature eagle sat side-by-side on a driftwood log,
about 30 yards away, and watched.

A quick check at Damon Point this morning:

2 immature Bald Eagles - one did a fine job of
snapping at the crows and gulls as they swooped low to
pester it
Caspian Terns
2 Killdeer
Barn Swallows
5 Marbled Godwits
1 Whimbrel (which also flew past me and called to
confirm the ID :-)
Crows and Gulls
A little ferret-like critter with a black-tipped tail
that I have yet to look-up for an ID. Anyone else
seen these at Damon Point? It ran across the road as
I was leaving the small parking lot.

There were some sea birds out too far for me to ID
with bins - smallish and dark.

Back home in Warm Beach, I have Purple Finch at the
feeder.

Best,
Judy Taylor
