When I got home yesterday about 11 am, my first job was to find the baby great horned owls. They had left the tree of the nest. My wife and daughter had seen them the day before the other side of the driveway and it did not take too long finding the first one in a tree. It had been able to get to a branch and was sitting there in the sun. Great for pictures. My wife spotted the other (younger?) one on the ground and I was able to get some pictures of it there. I got several pictures of it low in flight (not enough to get into a tree) and posted several so you could see the beautiful but immature feather patterns.

My dog being friendly and curious wanted to say hi and got a little too close for the owl's comfort. We enjoyed seeing the owl in a defensive pattern clacking its beak. The dog was not frightened, but did not want to get any closer.

I also saw a parent in a nearby tree. I've only seen one parent, so don't know if there have been two of them raising these chicks or not.

Best wishes,
