Robin, I am on the southern Africa version of Tweeters. Most of the
posters are in South Africa and would be more than happy to provide you
with suggestions for the Kruger area. You can also have fun lurking on
the list until your trip and getting excited about what you might see.
My time in southern Africa was spent mostly in Namibia, so I can't help
you there.

Subject: [Tweeters] S. Africa birding trips?

Hello all,

Apologies for a non-PNW birding question. I'm going to be in S. Africa
in November and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a
~1-week birding/wildlife tour, particularly in and around Kruger
National Park? There are a lot of options on the web but getting
personal recommendations (or groups to avoid) would be greatly
appreciated.

On the local front, in our back yard in Olympia we had a pair of Scrub
Jays show up on May 14th, and they've been around every day since. We've
only had one sighting of this species in/around the yard in the last
three years, so nice to see they seem to be staying.

Thanks very much,

Robin
