Saturday, Lonnie Sommer, Sherry and I did some birding from Stevenson
(Skamania County) to Conboy Lake NWR near Glenwood (Klickitat County).
Our route took us along I-84 in Oregon where we crossed at Cascade Locks
into Washington. We made a quick stop at the Bridge of the Gods -
Pacific Crest Trail parking lot in Cascade Locks, OR where we saw and
heard several Hermit Warblers. After crossing into Washington, we
headed for Stevenson. Seven Turkey Vulutres soared overhead as we drove
through town. Our next stop was at Dog Mountain trail, east of Home
Valley. We hiked the first 1/2 mile to the trail junction only. We had;
many Hermit Warblers
2 Nashville Warblers
1 Black-throated Gray Warbler
2 Western Tanagers
1 Black-headed Grosbeak
Next it was on to BZ Corners. We had 3 Vaux's Swifts fly by.
Along BZ-Glenwood Highway, we heard Wilson Warbers singing.
We birded Kreps Road and we had;
1 Yellow-headed Blackbird
several Lazuli Buntings
2 Western Wood Pewee's
1 Cassin's Vireo
4 Western Bluebirds
1 Sage Thrasher running along the road.
Our next stop was Conboy Lake NWR. where we hiked the Willard Spring
trail, and birded around the headquarters.
We had;
2 adult Sandhill Cranes with 2 baby chicks
1 Western Kingbird
1 Eastern Kingbird
several Yellow-rumped Warblers
2 MacGillivray's Warblers
3 Cedar Waxwings
4 Cassin's Vireos
1 Warbling Vireo
2 Black-headed Grosbeaks
1 Hairy Woodpecker
several Hammond's Flycatchers
several Western Wood Pewee's
6 Yellow-headed Blackbirds
several Soras
4 Cinnamon Teal
2 Turkey Vultures
6 Western Bluebirds
2 Western Tanagers
The last stop of the day was at the Mt. Adams Cemetary in Glenwood. We had;

2 Western Kingbirds
1 Yellow-rumper Warbler
1 American Kestrel
1 White-breasted Nuthatch.
