Hi Tweeters and Wilson,

Wilson you can add two more species to the list:

Ash-throated Flycatcher at the end of Malloy Road. At
first it was near a fenceline nestbox that looks
probably occupied by house wrens, lots of sticks with
a tunnel through them. Then it became quite active
and elusive.

Common Nighthawk hadn't arrived at the campout prior
to today, probably because Memorial weekend arrived
early this year but I saw one flying at high noon from
the same location as the flycatcher.

I tried for the Least Flycatcher at Hardy Canyon but
did not hear or see it but did see another (or was it
the same bird) Common Nighthawk.

The annual Audubon campout was very much fun again as
usual. From my camping spot nearly overlooking the
Larrison tree I saw Red Crossbills, Evening Grosbeaks,
White-headed Woodpecker, and probably 2 nesting pair
of White-breasted Nuthatches on top of some trees that
had broken off and snagged out tops. Vaux's Swifts
seemed interested in the snags, too.

Other great birds at the campout, some I saw, some I
did not: nesting birds in the camp included Pygmy
Nuthatches, Mountain Chickadee, Northern Rough-winged
Swallow, Western Bluebird and Dark-eyed Juncos.
Others that may or may not be nesting included:
Flammulated Owl, Common Poorwill, Western Tanager,
Veery, Chipping Sparrow, Red-naped Sapsucker and
Black-chinned Hummingbird. One group saw a Long-eared
Owl possible fledgling or brancher that was fairly
fluffy.
