Hi all,
After Doug and Pipper reported to me about re-finding the Brewer's Sparrow
at Point no Point this morning, I thought I would make another attempt at
videotaping it. Vic Nelson joined me in the late morning and we followed the
Brewer's Sparrow in and around the beach grass/ log area south of the
lighthouse. After a few good looks at it we realized that this was likely a
different bird than the one we had on Friday. It's plumage, especially in
the head (crown, nape, and face) was much brighter. A later study of my
video clearly shows that indeed two separate Brewer's Sparrows visited Point
no Point in the last few days.
So Doug, great job in finding the "another" Brewer's Sparrow in Kitsap
County. I guess it pays to make multiple attempts at re-finding a local
rarity.
A female Lazuli Bunting was in the neighborhood before reaching the Point.
Thanks also to Doug and Pipper for the three Whimbrels at the Foulweather
Bluff Nature Preserve. Whimbrel was a Kitsap County nemesis bird for me.
Cheers and good birding,
