Tweeters,
All of the summer regulars are finally here, with WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE,
WILLOW FLYCATCHER, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, CEDAR WAXWING, YELLOW WARBLER,
WESTERN TANAGER, AND BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK noted as recent arrivals.
Somewhere around 5-7 EVENING GROSBEAKS continue to remain, and the
KILLDEER that has a nest scrape south of the house must be getting close
to having its eggs hatch - it's been about 3 weeks since we returned
from vacation to find that "squatter" in the glacial till.

The Soras and Virginia Rails have migrated through, and we heard no
vocalizations this weekend. However, the SAVANNAH SPARROWS and CHIPPING
SPARROWS are in fine tune, with at least one pair of each nesting on the
property.

A House Sparrow took up residence in one of the Bluebird/Tree Swallow
boxes, and had 3 young fledge. A female Bewick's Wren was an unfortunate
victim of the only window in the our garage. Tree Swallows have young in
at least one of the nestboxes, with some late starters getting set up in
at least two boxes. I removed the House Sparrow nest from the one box,
and Tree Swallows were checking it out late yesterday afternoon.

Birds seen this weekend include the following:
Canada Goose
Mallard
Turkey Vulture
Red-tailed Hawk (at least one nest in the immediate area has young)
