Because there is no longer a guard station at the Suncadia property at the
Rosyln Exit off I-90, you can walk up the hill to check out the birding. Two of
us walked the road Tuesday morning and as we reached the top of the road that
curves left, we were stopped short by the sight of a large bear. It looked
at us, we looked at it; the bear turned and moved into the northern brush at
the corner of the road that leads to the powerlines. There are several Calliope
Hummingbirds in the area, an active Osprey nest, Western Tanager,
Black-throated Gray heard, Chipping Sparrows, and some warblers. The Turkey Vultures
were circling overhead.
