Scott Pearson, Hannah Anderson and I were doing a streaked horned lark survey on the McChord AFB airfield today. At approximately 7:45 a.m. we had a sighting of a vesper sparrow at the north end of the airfield. This is the first sighting of a vesper sparrow at McChord in over 6 years. Two horned lark nests and 4 savannah sparrow nests were also located on the airfield.
