Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 31. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 30 a LEAST TERN was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK was seen May 27 near Toledo, another was in Clatskanie the next
day. On May 29 a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was near Lakeview. A LEAST
FLYCATCHER was seen May 28 at Malone Springs on Upper Klamath Lake. On May
26 a male GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was at the Wood River Wetlands north of
Klamath Falls. On May 28 a HORNED PUFFIN was off Boiler Bay.

The spring migration continues with RED-NECKED PHALAROPES the most
conspicuous. COMMON NIGHTHAWKS arrived east of the Cascades during the week.
An early NIGHTHAWK was in Portland May 26.

On May 29 a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A
GOSHAWK was seen May 22 near Reedsport. On May 22 a BLACK-THROATED SPARROW
was reported at Heceta Head north of Florence.

EASTERN KINGBIRDS are now back at the Sandy River Delta. BLACK SWIFTS are
now back at Salt Creek Falls southeast of Eugene. An UPLAND SANDPIPER was
seen May 28 along Scotty Creek Road west of Seneca.

Many good birds were seen at Malheur NWR during the week, including
SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER, PLUMBEOUS VIREO, SUMMER TANAGER, BLACKPOLL
WARBLER, MAGNOLIA WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER,
FLAMMULATED OWL, BALTIMORE ORIOLE, and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS. ON MAY 28
NORTHERN PARULA and LEAST FLYCATCHER were at Fields.
