Thanks for the update Dave. We were at the Falls with our scope on Monday
and were able to show over 200 visitors their first look at a Per falcon.
At one point the eyeasses were active with lots of wing flapping visible
with the bare eye from the path, and the female was perched at about 2
o'clock and 10 yards above the nest. Earlier there was a dramatic event
with both adults diving and attacking a passing by osprey. It took about 2
minutes of furious attacks before the osprey called it quits.

Hope one of the regular crew gets to see these guys flyu this year.

the snoqualmie falls peregrine eyeasses continue to grow. they are getting
personalities and motor around the scrape pretty well. a fair amount of
down remains, but feathers are the order of the day. chances look good for
fledging soon, probably by midweek, but that's only my relatively uninformed
guess. if this year is anything like the last two, the youngsters will hang
around the falls for several weeks. the previous year kids have not been as
much in evidence as they were last year, but at least one female has been
seen off and on. whether that means another year of joint aerobatics
remains to be seen.

what i think this all means is if you want to see the chicks for certain,
they'll probably be on the scrape this weekend; after that, you may have to
search around a bit to find them. those with long camera lenses might get
some decent shots for the first couple weeks after fledging as the young
usually hang out on the rocks near and the rooftop of the lodge. it looks
as if there's a male and a female this time around -- if so, the male will
likely fly first, but it looks as though he hatched later than the female,
so they could both fledge the same day. watching them progress from
stumblebums to aviators is a real treat.
