Hi Tweeters,
I stopped by the Montlake Fill, aka Union Bay Natural Area, this afternoon
at about 1:30. The Cattle Egret was out in the open grassy playing field
north of the soccer stadium ? north and west of the ?dime? lot. This field
is reached by crossing the footbridge at the western edge of the Fill ? the
field is then on your right. The Egret was foraging out on the grass, very
successfully hunting worms and small invertebrates. When I first saw it, it
was at the south end of the field, but it had moved a few hundred yards to
the north end of the field by the time I left. I ran into one other birder
who had seen it in the same area. If it?s not at the Fill proper, I?d
recommend checking the open fields in the surrounding area.
Good birding,
Matt Dufort
