Hello all from MerryLynn,
This morning on my weekly walk along Stone Creek in south College Place I
was stopping and spishing as usual when up popped a female Black-throated
Blue Warbler! This area is to the north of the WalMart parking lot and
because of Mike and Shirley Muse (on behalf of Blue Mountain Audubon)
taking Walmart to court there is a riparian zone along the creek instead of
pavement over a pipe which is what they wanted to do.
After watching this bird for a few minutes I ran back up the hill and called
Ginger Shoemake and grabbed the camera. We then looked for 45 min. and
finally relocated the bird low in the young cottonwoods where it again
disappeared. After another 15 min. we again located it up 10 ft. in some
young cottonwoods just at the north entrance to the parking area where
Ginger had good looks at the bird - a lifer for her! It was loosely
associating with a couple of Ruby-crowned Kinglets and an Orange-crowned
Warbler.
This is another first record for Walla Walla County - I'm on a roll!!! after
the Red-throated Loon yesterday!
I'm picking up Mike for lunch - we will probably try for it again then.

Later, MerryLynn
