Eleven of us birded on the WOS field trip from Vancouver to Glenwood today
Sat. Nov. 10, 2007. Places visited are:
Steigerwald NWR
Franz NWR
Sams - Walker
Skamania Landing
North Bonneville
Hamilton Island
Bonneville Dam below and above
Stevenson Park
Port Stevenson
Wind River mouth
Home Valley wildlife area
Drano Lake/Little White Salmon River Fish Hatchery
Spring Creek Fish Hatchery
Underwood
Kreps Lane
Conboy NWR
Glenwood

Birds of note were:
1 Greater White-fronted Goose at Skamania Landing, 2 Greater White-fronted
Geese at Stevenson Park
1 Tundra Swan at Conboy NWR, several at Franz Lake NWR
1 Eurasian Wigeon at Stevenson Park
1 Canvasback at Franz Lake NWR
1 Red-necked Grebe near flock of Western Grebes above Bonneville Dam
1 Wilson Snipe at Hamilton Island Fish Hatchery Pond
1 Bonaparte's Gull below Bonneville Dam
1 ad. Western Gull at Hamilton Island Fish Hatchery smolt flumes
3 or 4 White-headed Woodpeckers at Mt. Adams Cemetery on Cemetery Road in
Glenwood
1 Black-billed Magpie on Kreps Lane (Conboy NWR)-seems like long way west
for this species
several Western Bluebirds across the road from the cemetery in Glenwood
1 Townsend's Warbler at Stevenson Park

71 species were seen in all. Very few sparrow flocks with only one Zono.
flock of Golden-crowned Sparrows in Underwood. Home Valley wildlife area
had a few Song Sparrows and 1 (Sooty) Fox Sparrow.
