we went today in the afternoon sunbreak between storm fronts to try for a siting of the cattle egret and horned owl. unfortunately, a soccer game with stanford--replete with a loud electronic speaker --may well have scared off the egret. we searched for the owl in the tree groves near the entrance to the Fill, but could not find it.
